Wolverhampton Wanderers have finally found a man to fit their vision as they close in on a deal for Brazilian youngster, Yuri Alberto.

Fellow Premier League side, West Ham, came close to signing the 22-year-old forward from Corinthians last summer but could not get an agreement over the line.

Wolves had a breakthrough in talks on Wednesday lunchtime over terms of a loan deal to take him to Molineux and the club are now confident that they can finally bring him to England’s top-flight.

It fits with their plan for this window as they did not want to commit to signing a No.9, but are on the hunt for a new goal threat.

The youngster has contributed to 37 goals in 95 appearances for Corinthians (26G+11A) and made his debut for Brazil in March 2023.

Gary O’Neil’s side explored a deal for Armando Broja at Chelsea, but were not willing to satisfy Todd Boehly’s financial demands around a permanent deal at the end of the season.

The deal for Alberto is more satisfying in that sense, according to sources, as Wolves are set to sign the Brazilian on an initial loan deal – but will be able to clinch a permanent transfer at £17 million at the end of that period.

Making the deal permanent will rely on Alberto’s performances, but if all goes well, he may find a new home at Molineux – according to SportsLens sources.

This specific option is an important aspect of the negotiations and talks are now progressing, as both parties look to finalise every detail by deadline day.
