Wimbledon Day 2 Tips

After correctly predicting all three of our Day 1 tips to land a 7/1 treble, we are back with three more Wimbledon Day 2 tips and best bets ready for Tuesday’s packed schedule.

Wimbledon Day 2 Tips

  • Matteo Berrettini vs Lorenzo Sonego : Sonego to Win @ 1/2
  • Shelby Rogers vs Elena Rybakina: Over 19.5 Games @ 5/6
  • Sorana Cirstea vs Tatjana Maria: Maria to Win @ 10/11

Back all three as a triple, at odds of 5/1 with Paddy Power below.

Wimbledon Đay 2 Tip – Sonego to Win

An all-Italian first round match-up sees 2021 Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini attempt to return to form against Lorenzo Sonego.

It is hard to write off Berrettini on his day, but notable performances have been few and far between as of late. Since withdrawing from Monte Carlo in April, he has started just twice.

A return to grass, a surface he has excelled on in the past, left a lot to be desired as he was put to the sword by today’s opponent Sonego, winning just three games across his two-set defeat in Stuttgart.

This is enough evidence for us to side with Sonego and inflict a painful first round defeat for the former finalist.

Wimbledon Day 2 Tip – Rogers vs Rybakina: Over 19.5 Games

Next we head over to Centre Court for the return of last year’s champion Elena Rybakina, who kicks off her title defence against 49th-ranked American Shelby Rogers.

Although Rybakina was included in our early outright Wimbledon picks, the 24-year-old heads to London having endured a less than favourable few weeks of preparation, after battling a virus that forced her out of the French Open last month.

She featured twice in Berlin to get her grass season up and running, eventually falling to Donna Vekic, but reports suggest she is healthy and ready to defend her title.

She will be all too familiar with first round opponent Shelby Rogers, whom she fell to defeat against last year, but the American enters Wimbledon on a four-game losing streak. We’ve steered clear of picking a winner, but the over/under game spread seemed surprisingly low for a match that should prove to be a slog for both players.

Wimbledon Day 2 Tip – Maria to Win

Lastly, we feature one of Wimbledon’s unexpected success stories of last year, where Tatjana Maria managed to reach the final four.

The German veteran appears to have found her best form on grass as she enters the twilight of her career, and recently reached the final of an Italian Challenger event in June. Maria also pushed Wimbledon favourite and world number one Iga Swiatak to a third set in her native Germany last month.

Her opponent Sorana Cirstea finds herself in fairly dismal form having won just one of her last six matches, and a second round defeat to Maria in last year’s tournament is enough for us to side with the German.
