Who Is Reuell Walters? The Arsenal youngster is expected to make his senior debut as the Gunners take on PSV in the UEFA Champions League on match day six.

Walters has been included in the squad to take on the Dutch side in Eindhoven, having been on the bench for the recent Premier League games against Luton Town and Aston Villa.

The match day six clash is a dead rubber with Arsenal already confirmed as group winners, and PSV have secured the runner-up spot.

Who Is Reuell Walters?

Reuell Walters was born on December 16th, 2004 in Lambeth, south London and has supported Arsenal for most of his life. Walters impressed from an early age and was offered a trial with both Chelsea and Tottenham, after briefly honing his skills at a Brazilian soccer school.

He opted to join Spurs and played there for a number of years before leaving the club in 2019, both Manchester sides soon became interested in his services. He turned down Man City and opted for Man United, but his potential move collapsed before a chance to play from Arsenal came to fruition.

Lee Heron, who is the Academy Operations Manager at the Gunners saw enough of Walters’ talents and offered him a trial before the youngster joined the club as an U16 in October 2020. Walters would go on to sign his first professional contract in February 2022.

Reuell Walters Playing Style

Reuell Walters playing style can be compared to the likes of Kyle Walker, Reece James and Trent Alexander-Arnold – buccaneering defenders with strong attacking attributes. Walters is predominately a right-back/right wing-back but can also play in the centre of defence or right midfield – making him very versatile.

Standing at 6 ft, Walters has the skills and talents to make the grade in the red half of north London and if his expected debut against PSV goes to plan, Mikel Arteta will likely call upon him over the hectic festive period for Premier League games.

The Gunners academy product is blessed to train with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Martin Odegaard, William Saliba and Ben White, which will undoubtedly help him develop his overall game on a day-to-day basis. Arteta could nurture him into a future star with the right guidance.

Reuell Walters In 2023/24

Reuell Walters has featured 15 times across all competitions for Arsenal’s U21 side in 2023/24, scoring one goal and providing one assist. Walters has been on the bench for the senior squad on four occasions this year, with three of those coming in the Premier League.

Interest in Walters has increased in recent weeks and it is understood Mikel Arteta is keen to tie him down to a new long-term deal. The 18-year old has represented England at youth level and is also eligible to play for Germany and Jamaica.

With injuries to Jurrien Timber, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Thomas Partey – who can operate as an emergency defender – expect to see and hear a lot more from Walters. Especially if he does go on to impress on his Arsenal and UEFA Champions League debut. The best UK betting sites make the Gunners 29/18 to win in the Netherlands against PSV on match day six.
