With Eric Ten Hag looking to bolster his attacking options, Manchester United have been linked with the English star – but who is Marcus Edwards?
United are reportedly keen to offload Anthony Martial, with Ten Hag deeming the striker surplus to requirements. As a result, they are in the market for another attacker, and Marcus Edwards is among the possibilities.
Edwards, who is currently plying his trade with Sporting CP in the Portuguese league, has been linked in recent days.
The 25-year-old is seen as a solution to United’s Antony problem, with the Brazilian enduring another awful season at Old Trafford.

Edwards, who operates as a right-sided inverted winger, can also play on the left or through the middle when required.
At an estimated cost of £30 million, he could be a cheaper option for Man United, though any move is expected to be delayed until the summer, if it happens at all.
Edwards has four goals and four assists in Liga Portugal this season, from 16 appearances.
So with him potentially moving to Old Trafford, we at SpotsLens have taken a closer look at Marcus Edwards.
Who Is Marcus Edwards?
Born on 3 December 1998 in Enfield, London, Marcus Edwards came up through Tottenham’s youth academy.
Able to play for England or Cyprus thanks to his Greek Cypriot mother, he has represented England from under-16 to under-20 level. Edwards was part of the England under-19 team that won the 2017 European Championship.
Despite joining Spurs’ youth ranks aged seven, he failed to break into the senior team, making just one appearance. He came off the bench in the League Cup, and was sent on loan to Norwich City in 2017/18.
He again struggled, playing just once in the EFL Championship. But a move to the Dutch Eredivisie reignited his career a year later.
Edwards joined Excelsior on loan, playing 28 times before signing for Vitória de Guimarães in 2019 on a permanent deal.
In January 2022, he moved to Sporting CP for an initial €7.67 million, and has played more than 100 games in Portugal. Marcus also holds the record for most goals by an English player in the Portuguese top flight.
He scored his first UEFA Champions League goal on 7 September 2022. In a 3-0 win, he also provided an assist as Sporting beat Bundesliga outfit Eintracht Frankfurt away from home.
