Born in May 2006 in Gateshead, Lewis Miley joined the Newcastle academy at age seven before finally making his senior debut for his boyhood club ten years later, at 17 years old.

Miley made his first-team debut in a pre-season friendly against Al-Hilal in 2022.
Just three weeks after signing his first professional contract with Newcastle, he made his Premier League debut in May 2023. The 17-year-old came on as a substitute against Chelsea, becoming Newcastle’s youngest ever Premier League player.
In September of that year, Miley made his first competitive start in a 1-0 win against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.
Two months later, Miley started his first Premier League game against Bournemouth, which they lost 2-0. He was unlucky not to score this game, grazing the bar with a shot from outside the penalty area.

He’s a tall, composed central midfielder who is defensively astute. He has an eye for a pass too, as demonstrated by his wonderful assist against Chelsea in the Premier League.

How Good Is Lewis Miley?
In 2021, Miley was a key member of Newcastle’s Under-18 team, making 24 appearances and contributing to four goals.
But it was in the Premier League 2 the following season where Miley truly showed his quality. In just nine games, Miley contributed to seven goals, scoring two and assisting five.
In November 2022, he won Newcastle’s Jack Hixon Award, which is awarded to the club’s most promising youngster.
With Eddie Howe’s side plagued with injuries, Miley was awarded a start against Chelsea in November 2023, where he became the youngest Newcastle player to provide a Premier League assist. The 17-year-old produced a pinpoint line-slitting pass for Isak’s opening goal.

Miley has represented England at both Under-17 and Under-19 levels. With the Under-17s, Miley has played ten times, scoring one goal. In these games, he helped England qualify for the 2023 UEFA European U-17 Championship but was withdrawn from participating in the finals by Newcastle.
In September 2023, Miley made his Under-19s debut in a 1-0 defeat to Germany.
