Wolves manager Gary O’Neil has given a Jonny Castro update and said that the “club are working on it” after the Spanish defender was left out of the squad facing Arsenal at the weekend.
Jonny Castro has been a regular on the Wolves bench this season, but has only played three times. Two of those were starts in the Carabao Cup and one was a late substitute appearance in the league.
He was most recently left out of the side for their latest Premier League fixture against Arsenal, but O’Neil did not say much on the situation and was rather coy on his absence.
Why Has Jonny Castro Been Left Out Of The Wolves Squad?
The reason for his exclusion from the squad is not yet known, but it could be a fairly serious situation with the Wolves boss keen not to talk too much about it. However, it seems it was something to do with disciplinary issues involving a training ground incident.
He was speaking in the media ahead of the side’s clash with Burnley on Tuesday night saying the following: “Jonny won’t be in the squad. There was a training ground incident last week that’s being dealt with by the club.
“If – or when – he’s back available, we’ll let everybody know. At this moment in time he won’t be available for the coming games.
“I’d rather not go into thing in public. Things happen at training grounds and at football clubs a lot.
“He is not with us at the moment. He’s not training with us. I’m involved with everything but people above me are also dealing with the situation.
We will update you when he’s back around. I can’t update you any more than that at the moment.”

Jonny has been at the West Midlands side since the summer of 2018, having originally signed on loan from La Liga club Atletico Madrid and he has gone on to make 134 appearances.
His more recent game was during the 2-1 win over Manchester City at the end of September and who knows, it could have been the last. So keep an eye out on SportsLens for the next Jonny Castro update.
