West Ham 4-2 Brentford Highlights
With two London sides meeting under the lights of the London Stadium, there was an air of expectation, and neither side let us down.
David Moyes, who is under pressure as West Ham manager, saw his side make the perfect start to the game. Jarrod Bowen opened the scoring in just the 5th minute to send the home crowd wild. West Ham’s favoured child wasn’t done there. He added his and West Ham’s second just two minutes later.
Despite the fast start for West Ham, Brentford managed to get the crucial third goal of the game to prevent the Hammers running away with the game. Neil Maupay pulled one back in the 13th minute, continuing his impressive goalscoring form against West Ham.
Neil Maupay has scored more goals against West Ham in his career, than he has against any other team he has played against (5 goals in 7 games). He has also never lost against West Ham:

The game slowed down after a frantic first 15 minutes, with the next goal not coming until the 63rd minute. Bowen grabbed his third to cap off a great performance for the England striker.
With Brentford looking to cut the deficit back to one again, West Ham full-back Emerson scored the host’s fourth goal. The goal killed the visitor’s hope and looked to seal the three points for West Ham.
The visitors did pull a goal back to make it 4-2. Yoane Wissa scored Brentford’s second goal and the game’s 6th goal.
Up next for West Ham is a trip to Everton, followed by their Europa League trip to Freiburg. They’ll be confident after this display they can beat both of these teams.
As for Brentford, they’ve got a tough pair of Premier League fixtures up next as they face Chelsea and Arsenal. It’s two games they wouldn’t want after a disappointing defeat to West Ham, especially given their proximity to the drop zone.
