Under pressure West Ham United manager David Moyes is likely to remain at the helm at the London Stadium, despite poor form and eight game winless run.
The club are said to be on the hunt for long-term managerial options, should they decide to part ways with Moyes.
David Moyes To Remain In Charge Of Hammers
Moyes will remain in charge at West Ham United while the club continue to explore long-term managerial options.
It has been revealed to SportsLens that there is very little appetite to part ways now and find an interim manager – and there is no boss available right now that is a convincing permanent replacement either.
There is expectation that Moyes will see an upturn in results in the coming weeks, anyway. And while that does not mean he is going to set himself up for new talks on a fresh contract agreement – it would mean there becomes more time to properly assess the situation.
West Ham’s next three Premier League fixtures are all against teams in a relegation fight, two of which are at home. Hammers fans will be expecting maximum points from these three games, or two wins at an absolute minimum.
Could Thomas Tuchel Take Over At West Ham?
It is understood the process of considering a successor to Moyes has already begun and we revealed last week how Thomas Tuchel is a manager that will appeal to them if he becomes available.
Tuchel has lost his last three matches at Bayern Munich and his job security is not good. Tim Steidten will lead the search for the next manager and a boss of Tuchel’s status would fit the brief.
We understand there is not going to be a temptation to take a chance on an up-and-coming boss, as a low-risk strategy would be preferred. And the likelihood of a manager coming in from Germany is believed to be high – even if it does not end up being Tuchel.
South America is also being explored as a spot for potential candidates and it is expected new names will emerge soon as coaches with a good reputation in the game are identified.
West Ham have not won a game in 2024 – and have not even scored a goal in their last three games – but Moyes will have a chance to put that right on Monday night when his side host Brentford at the London Stadium.
Fans are losing faith in the boss and held up a Moyes Out banner after last weekend’s 2-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.
Moyes retaliated by saying: “I am pretty long in the tooth, you can never please everybody, it would be hard to say there have been many better times at West Ham.
“Maybe they want something different, but they would honestly have to say it has been the best times they have had at the club with regards winning a European trophy, the league positions.”
