The Conference League holders West Ham looked to further cement their top two place in their group as they faced Greek opposition.
A quiet first half passed with neither side able to break the deadlock. In the second half, Brazilian Lucas Paquetá opened the scoring with just over 15 minutes to go. The goal was set up by James Ward-Prowse, who missed out on an England call-up for the next set of games.

Despite the visitors pushing to equalise, they failed to have shot on target in the whole game. Credit has to be given to the West Ham defence for shutting out the opposition attack.
The win for West Ham puts them joint top of the group with Freiburg who they meet in the next round of group matches.

David Moyes and his side are some way off the favourites for this seasons Europa League. The bookies have them priced at 22/1 to make it back-to-back European successes. Given their talented squad, they’re certainly worth a punt as an outsider to win the tournament.
One thing to consider is if West Ham get to the knockout stages, teams from the Champions League will drop into the tournament.
Topping their group is crucial as it should give them an easier ride to the final. However, it’s hard to say any team is easier than another as this is a competition filled with the best teams from around Europe.
