Mohammed Kudus could be out for as many as five games when he goes to the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) with Ghana in January.

Kudus, who signed from Ajax in the summer, has taken some time to settle into life in the Premier League but has now found his feet for the Hammers.

With West Ham hosting Wolves on the back of three Premier League games without a win, the pressure was on. Kudus shined in the game for the Hammers, scoring two goals as the hosts cruised to three points. His two goals at the London Stadium takes him to five for the season in the league.

You can watch Kudus’ goals, along with the full highlights from West Ham vs Wolves here.

As the Ghanian begins to find form in the Premier League, West Ham staff and fans will be dreading the upcoming AFCON where Kudus will represent his nation.

Kudus to miss as many as five games while at the AFCON

Kudus is set to play a key role for Ghana as they look to win their fifth AFCON title, and first since 1982.

The group stages of the AFCON 2024 starts on the 13th January. Ghana’s tournament starts on the 14th January against Cape Verde. They’ll also play Egypt and Mozambique in their group. Ghana are expected to make it out of their group, which will add more games to their schedule. The final, if Ghana do make it there, is on the 11th February.

Matches he could miss

If Ghana reaches the final, Kudus could miss five games for West Ham.  The five are:

  • Bristol City (H) FA Cup
  • Sheffield United (A)
  • Bournemouth (H)
  • Man United (A)
  • Arsenal (H)

The final two games, away at Man United and at home against Arsenal, will be two key games if they’re wanting to push on and qualify for Europe. Depending on Ghana’s progression, Kudus may be back for those two games.
