Following on from Wayne Rooney’s Birmingham dismissal, Kai Rooney has been defending his dad on social media. Kai is just 14 years old but he seems very active and knowledgeable about his fathers plan for Birmingham.

What has Kai Rooney been saying?

A video has been surfacing on the internet of a screen recorded video of Rooney defending his dad’s efforts at Birmingham by slagging off the Birmingham players. Rooney went for goalkeeper John Ruddy claiming that the 37-year- old is ‘overweight’. Rooney also said the two centre back are ‘awful’ and the squad just didn’t listen to his dad.

A text message from Rooney also states that his dad was going to sign Fulham striker Raul Jimenez. Jimenez joined Fulham in the summer on a two-year deal and has scored five goals for the club so far.

The message also says that Birmingham were going to sign four other Premier League players.

Why was Rooney sacked?

After Leeds defeated Birmingham 3-0, Rooney was relived of his duties just 15 games into his three-and-a-half-year deal. Rooney only managed to gain Birmingham 10 points as they now sit in 20th position in the Championship; six points off the relegation zone.

Before Rooney joined, Birmingham were on 18 points after 11 games which shows how bizarre the whole situation is. John Eustace was sacked in October and Rooney was swiftly appointed.

Rooney expressed his frustration in a statement he released following on from his dismissal. It read:  “I would like to thank Tom Wagner, Tom Brady and Garry Cook for the opportunity to manage Birmingham City FC and the support they all gave me during my short period with the club.

“Football is a results business – and I recognise they have not been at the level I wanted them to be.

“However, time is the most precious commodity a manager requires and I do not believe 13 weeks was sufficient to oversee the changes that were needed.

“Personally, it will take me some time to get over this setback. I have been involved in professional football, as either a player or manager, since I was 16.

“Now, I plan to take some time with my family as I prepare for the next opportunity in my journey as a manager.

“Finally, I wish Birmingham City FC and its owners my best wishes in the pursuit of their ambitions.”

What’s next for Birmingham?

Birmingham were graced with stakes being bought from Tom Brady in the summer and it’s clear that the club were trying to follow in the footsteps of Wrexham by wanting big name talent within their football club.

The plan has backfired and Birmingham are left with the decision on who should be their third manager of the season. Their next game is Hull City away in the FA Cup.
