Wales vs Turkey Preview
Wales’ hopes of automatic qualification took a massive hit on Saturday afternoon. Rob Page’s side were held to a 1-1 draw at Armenia, meaning their fate now lies in the hands of Croatia.
Despite fielding an unchanged team, Wales failed to replicate the cohesion and fluidity of their attacking play that saw them deservedly come out on top against Croatia.
Wales, who would’ve qualified ahead of Croatia on head-to-head had they beaten both Armenia and Turkey, must now hope for Armenia to get a result in Zagreb. If not, another play-off awaits to decide the Dragons’ fate. You can see the permutations of qualifying from the group in full here.
Group leaders Turkey have already secured qualification for the 2024 European Championships, securing their third consecutive entry to the tournaments. A draw at the Cardiff City Stadium will send them through as group winners.
Turkey won the reverse fixture back in June with a 2-0 victory over 10-man Wales. Mehmet Umut Nayir and Real Madrid starlet Arda Guler netted for Stefan Kuntz’s side.

Wales vs Turkey Team News
Wales Team News
Tottenham Hotspur forward Brennan Johnson could be brought into the starting lineup after being on the bench in Armenia. He missed the October camp because of a hamstring injury but came back as a substitute on Saturday. If he does play, either David Brooks or Harry Wilson will likely miss out.
The continued absence of Aaron Ramsey means that Johnson’s Spurs teammate, Ben Davies, retains the captain’s armband. Luton Town’s Tom Lockyer is expected to join him in the back three, with Chris Mepham serving a suspension.
Wales Predicted Line-Up
Ward; Roberts, Lockyer, Rodon, Davies, N Williams; Ampadu, J James; Wilson, Moore, Johnson
Turkey Team News
Turkey are likely to make some changes following their friendly win against Germany. Salih Ozcan, Kerem Akturkoglu, and Baris Alper Yilmaz could be reintroduced to the starting lineup.
Captain Hakan Calhangolu hasn’t travelled with the squad due to flu-like symptoms, suggesting that Adana Demirspor’s Emre Akbaba may keep his place. Arda Guler remains sidelined due to injury, with Kenan Yildz likely to step up on the left wing.
Turkey Predicted Line-Up
Altay; Celik, Bardakci, Kabak, Kadioglu; Akbaba, Ozcan, Yuksek; Akturkoglu, Yilmaz, Yildiz
