With Viktor Gyokeres linked to no fewer than seven different Premier League sides, we at Sportslens are taking a look at the Swedish star’s next club odds.
The 25-year-old appeared destined for Chelsea according to reports, but it now seems that Arsenal are entering the race for his signature.
Able to operate across a front three, the versatile forward is exactly what many clubs are crying out for in the January window.
With 11 goals and seven assists in just 16 league games this season, the Sporting Lisbon star has been ripping up defences for fun in Portugal.
Were he to join a Premier League club, it wouldn’t be his first taste of English football. Gyokeres spent time at Brighton, Swansea and Coventry, though has never played in the top flight in England.
But with 121 EFL Championship appearances, he’s no stranger to the physicality of the game in this country. Gyokeres has also gained valuable experience of European football already this season, with three goals in five Europa League matches.
As it stands, Chelsea are favourites for his signature, but reports claim they have seen an opening bid of £73 million rejected.
His release clause is reported to be £86 million, meaning whoever wants him may have to fork out the full amount to pry him away from Portugal.
Elsewhere, Arsenal and Manchester United are possible destinations, along with PSG, Juventus and Tottenham.
Liverpool and Newcastle are less likely, especially with the Magpies’ FFP issues limiting spending this window.
Several sources believe Gyokeres is holding out for a Champions League move, which limits his options further still, and excludes Chelsea – for this season at least.
But while the odds seem to favour Chelsea at present, things can change in an instant in football. With that in mind, here’s a list of Viktor Gyokeress’ next club odds,
