Tiago Santos continues to be tracked by a handful of top Premier League clubs ahead of a potential summer transfer from Lille.
Lille defender Santos is only 21 but has made a serious impact at the French club, who are currently fourth in Ligue 1 and chasing down a Champions League place.
They are also still in the Europa Conference League and face a quarter-final second-leg showdown with Aston Villa this week, as Unai Emery’s side hold a lead from the first encounter.
Santos is a modern day right-back in the sense he loves to attack but also understands his defensive responsibilities and can be adaptable in the role.
He impressed in that 2-1 loss at Villa Park and SportsLens understands scouts from at least five clubs are monitoring him in hope of luring him to England at the end of the season.
Villa are among the sides while Manchester United and Newcastle have made checks and Tottenham and West Ham are understood to hold interest.
United discovered him at a time when they were primarily watching teammate Leny Yoro but Santos’s performances across this term continue to make him a candidate to replace Aaron Wan-Bissaka at the club.
Villa are the club emerging as a possible landing spot too though as their full-back positions continue to be analysed and they are getting a first-hand view of what Santos may bring to the side.
Lille boss Paulo Fonseca has put together a strong team and he is also linked with new jobs, primarily as a candidate to replace David Moyes at West Ham.
Lille also have Jonathan David, the Canadian forward who has been considered by a number of Premier League teams and is yet to clearly define where his future will lie.
