Cole Palmer’s Premier League stats for Chelsea this season show just how vital he has been for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
A former Manchester City academy graduate, Palmer has got off to a flying start since he swapped the Etihad for Stamford Bridge in the summer.
The 21-year-old has been involved in nine league goals for the Blues, netting six times and managing three assists.
Only four Chelsea players aged 21 and under have hit double figures for goal involvements in a single Premier League campaign.
Pochettino’s men have lacked firepower up front this season, with poor form and injuries to key players hampering their progress. But one shining light in an otherwise dreary season has been Cole Palmer.
The Blues travel to Wolves on Sunday, with Palmer now just one goal involvement away from joining an illustrious group of Chelsea players.

Chelsea’s Best U21 Seasons
Most recently, Mason Mount – now of Arsenal – had seven goals and six assists in 2019/20. Twelve of those came before he turned 22.
In the same season, Christian Pulisic notched up 13 goal involvements before his 22nd birthday. The American has since joined Serie A side AC Milan.
Eden Hazard had an incredible campaign as a youngster in 2012/13. The Belgian scored nine and assisted 14 for 23 total goal involvements, ten of which while he was 21 or younger.
Back in 2004/05, Arjen Robben’s 16 Premier League goal involvements before he turned 22 are the most in Chelsea history for a single season.
Cole Palmer’s Chelsea Goals
Cole Palmer’s first Chelsea goal in the Premier League came against Burnley on 7 October. He also grabbed an assist as the Blues won 4-1 at Turf Moor.
He scored again in Chelsea’s next league match as they drew 2-2 with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.
Back-to-back goals against Tottenham and boyhood club Manchester City came in November. Palmer’s 95th-minute penalty secured a point in a 4-4 draw with City that was undoubtedly one of the games of the season.
The now senior England international also scored in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester United on 6 December. That loss is the only Premier League defeat Chelsea have suffered this year when Palmer has scored or assisted for them.
His most recent goal came last time out as Chelsea won 2-0 against Sheffield United. Palmer was involved in both goals, providing the assist for Nicholas Jackson’s 61st-minute strike.
Cole Palmer’s stats are already impressive, particularly for a 21-year-old. But with the youngster not turning 22 until 6 May, he has plenty of time to become only the fifth Chelsea player to reach ten or more Premier League goal involvements aged 21 or younger.
