A supercomputer has predicted the Premier League relegation battle, as Sheffield United, Burnley, Luton, Nottingham Forest and Everton go head-to-head.

The Premier League season is entering its latter stages and things have never been closer at both the top end of the table and the bottom.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City are all gunning for the league title, however, today we’re focusing on the flip side – the bottom three.

Sheffield United, Burnley, Luton, Nottingham Forest and Everton all have a huge chance of facing relegation this season and a super computer has looked at who is the most likely to go down.

Will Sheffield United Be Relegated?

The Blades are on course to have a record breaking season – but for all the wrong reasons. Paul Heckingbottom was sacked midway through the campaing and Chris Wilder was brought in to turn things around.

However, during his second spell at the club, Wilder has failed to improve life at Bramall Lane and his side are now on track to concede the most goals in Premier League history.

With 11 matches to go, Sheffield United sit on 72 goals conceded and are just 28 goals away from breaking Swindon’s record of conceding 100 league goals.

The Blades still have to face Liverpool at Anfield, Manchester United at Old Trafford and Newcastle at St James Park – while also welcoming Chelsea, Spurs and Fulham to Bramall Lane.

Three of their last five matches (as of March 5th 2024) have ended in 6-0, 5-0 and 5-0 defeats – scoring just one goal in the other two.

Sheffield United sit on 13 points after 27 matches and are 11 points away from safety – leaving them with a mountain to climb.

Will Burnley Be Relegated?

Vincent Kompany’s side have struggled on their return to the Premier League, despite winning the Championship in dominant fashion last year.

The Clarets are also on 13 points and are only above Sheffield United on goal difference – meaning staying in England’s top flight would be a miraculous achievement.

A difficult run in is in store for Burnley, as they face West Ham, Chelsea, Manchester United and Spurs away from home.

Will Luton Be Relegated?

The Hatters have been the bright spark from the three promoted sides and are just four points away from safety with a game in hand on the teams above them (as of GW27).

Rob Edwards’ side have put in stellar performances at home against Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United and Liverpool – despite losing three of the four and picking up a point against the latter.

Luton have lost their last five Premier League matches putting them in and amongst the relegation places, however, impressive wins against Newcastle, Brighton and Crystal Palace throughout the season have left them in contention to stay up.

Will Nottingham Forest Be Relegated?

Nottingham Forest parted ways with long-term manager, Steve Cooper, and Nuno Espirito Santo was appointed to keep them in the Premier League.

Despite beating Manchester United and Newcastle in his opening month at the club, Nuno has failed to string a set of wins together and Forest are now just four points clear of the relegation zone.

A sub-plot to their season is the possibility of a points deduction, after it was revealed that the club may have breached FFP rules.

Will Everton Be Relegated?

Speaking of point deductions, Sean Dyche’s Everton are all too familiar with that matter after being deducted 10 points in November last year.

The Toffee’s were given four points back after a successful appeal, meaning they now sit five points clear of the bottom three.

Everton have failed to win in their last 10 Premier League matches and this form has left them firmly in the battle to avoid relegation this season.
