Sheffield United vs Wolves Prediction

Paul Heckingbottom’s Sheffield United are enduring the worst ever start to a Premier League season after 10 games played. The Blades have earned just one point, conceding a staggering 29 league goals.

This Saturday, they host Wolves at Bramall Lane. They’ll be hoping to bounce back from their 5-0 thumping at Arsenal last weekend, but Gary O’Neil’s well-drilled side come into the game in good form.

Wolves are unbeaten in five league games, collecting points from the likes of Aston Villa, Newcastle United and Manchester City.

With that in mind, on top of the long list of Sheffield United injuries, it’s difficult to see any other outcome than a Wolves win.

Prediction: Sheffield United 0-1 Wolves

The sight of Pedro Neto leaving the field in tears and clutching his hamstring last Saturday was a sore one for Wolves fans. The Portuguese winger has been pivotal to everything Wolves do offensively, having contributed to eight of his team’s 13 goals.

Gary O’Neil sets his team out to be very compact and tough to play against, but Neto gives them an attacking spark. He is their out-ball and a player who can create something out of nothing, highlighted by his league-leading tally of seven assists.

The dynamism and creativity the 23-year-old provides will be hugely missed, and his absence could start to derail Wolves’ season.

However, they should still have enough quality to overcome bottom-placed Sheffield United, who are yet to keep a clean sheet this season.

Forward Hee-Chan Hwang will be licking his lips as he looks to continue his hot streak of goalscoring form. The Korean has notched six goals so far; only four players have scored more.

The Blades have scored the fewest goals (7), generated the fewest expected goals (7.56), and created the fewest chances (5). Given this data, as well as the absence of Wolves’ key creative player in Neto, a low-scoring affair looks nailed on.
