Nigerian billionaire Dozy Mmobuosi is close to reaching an agreement with Championship side Sheffield United over the completion of a full takeover.

Current Sheffield United owner Prince Abdullah has been in contact with Mmobuosi, who is the founder and Group Chief Executive Officer of Tingo Inc which is better known as the parent company of Tingo Mobile. These talks have reportedly reached an “advanced stage”.

Mmobuosi made a name for himself when he founded Tingo Mobile PLC in Nigeria in 2001, which is an organisation that has been on an incredible rise. In turn, the Nigerian made his own foundation in 2021 with the goal of promoting progress in education, healthcare, and technology throughout Africa and creating an environment where the African population can thrive.

The Championship side have been looking for suitable buyers for almost a year as American businessman, Henry Mauriss was unsuccessful with his bid in the summer of last year. Putting the pressure on these current negotiations with Mmobuosi, as fans have seen it fall through before.

Despite these ownership problems the Blades’ performances have not been impacted on the pitch, with Paul Heckingbottom’s side sitting second in the table. They are 12 points ahead of third-place Middlesbrough and are 1/7 to get promoted to the Premier League, according to UK betting sites.
