One of Manchester United’s greatest defenders, Rio Ferdinand, has admitted he’s confident the side will finish in the top four this season.
In recent weeks, Manchester United have shown positive signs as they look to qualify for the Champions League next season. Their charge to the top four has in part been helped by the goalscoring form of Rasmus Hojlund.
Rasmus Hojlund has scored more Premier League goals (6) in 2024 than:

Toney (4)
Nunez (4)
Salah (3)
Haaland (2)He is only going to get better… 🤩🤩🤩 pic.twitter.com/d8xzOq4uSI

This form has got pundits and former players discussing where Manchester United will finish come the end of the season.
Ferdinand’s Premier League prediction for Manchester United
Speaking on VIBE with FIVE, Ferdinand said he is “quite confident” that Manchester United will finish in the top four. Rio said:
“Well, we’re three points off Spurs. Five points off Villa. We’re fourth,” he said on his YouTube channel.
“We’ve got a lot of games left, so there’s a lot of games, man. I think Man United will finish fourth.
“I’m quite confident if I’m honest. I just think that… we just can’t get any more injuries, but that’s the thing.
“But I don’t think Villa can perform better than they did for the first half of the season.
“They’ll just stay where they are. I just think the squad depth… it’s a bit of [a] mixture of everything: squad depth, pressure, expectations are different now.”
Who Do They Have Left To Play?
The run in to the end of the season for Erik ten Hag’s side is a tricky one. Arsenal, Liverpool and Newcastle still have to visit Old Trafford, with Manchester United still to make trips to Chelsea and Man City. If they are to secure their top four finish, they’ll need to make sure they pick up points at home.
Ten Hag will look at home games against Sheffield United and Burnley as two games they must pick up six points.
Manchester United will also need other results to go their way. If Ferdinand’s prediction is to be right, they’ll need Spurs to drop points as we approach the end of the season.
