Manchester City’s midfield maestro Rodri has piled praise onto several Premier League stars as he named who he believes are the best-performing players in Europe this year.

The Spaniard chose four names to highlight, including three Englishmen – two of whom he could face in the Champions League knockout stages.

In particular, Rodri praised the impact of 20-year-old Jude Bellingham has made at La Liga giants Real Madrid. The midfielder joined from Borussia Dortmund for £113 million in the summer and has been in terrific form for Los Blancos.

To date, Bellingham has amassed 17 goals in 21 appearances, as well as six assists. Rodri also had plenty of good things to say about England captain Harry Kane.

Rodri told the Daily Mail: “I think Bellingham is doing great in Spain, Kane has adapted very well to German football also.”

Kane joined Bundesliga side Bayern Munich in a £100m move, and has been on fire this season. He has scored 25 times in 22 matches, and is top of the Bundesliga scoring charts.

Rodri Talks Up Tottenham

But it’s not just former Spurs players that have earned plaudits from the Man City midfielder. Rodri also highlighted the performances of James Maddison and Son Heung-Min, who have both been superb for Ange Postecoglou’s side.

He said: “And in England, I would say Maddison or Son as they are doing very good for Tottenham.”

Song Heung-Min and James Maddison have been key players for Tottenham

Maddison had been enjoying a great start to life in North London since joining from relegated Leicester City. He notched up three goals and five assists in the opening 11 games, with Spurs near the top of the league.

But an ankle injury in November has seen him on the sidelines as Tottenham lost pace with the leaders, dropping back to fifth.

That is by no means the fault of now club captain, Son Hueng-Min, though. The South Korean forward has stepped up as a leader and tops the Spurs scoring charts with ten already in the Premier League.

He scored the opener in Spurs’ 3-3 draw with Rodri’s Man City at the Etihad, and now has eight goals in 16 games against them.

Manchester City however will be hoping Rodri will help them to win silverware already this season by lifting the Club World Cup tonight. City face Brazilian side Fluminence in Saudi Arabia for a chance to win the only major honour that has so far eluded them.
