Reece James’ bad luck with injuries continued yet again on Sunday afternoon, as the Chelsea captain was forced off the field in a 2-0 loss to Everton with another hamstring injury.
Chelsea’s Captain Continuing To Struggle
It was only at the start of the season that Reece James was named as Chelsea’s new club captain, but since then the Blues full back has struggled to get any game time, with repeated injuries preventing the star from playing.
James has been steadily working himself back into the first team after missing the first two months of the season with a hamstring injury, but yet again he was forced to come off in Sunday’s Premier League clash against Everton with a knock.
🚨🔵 Pochettino: “Reece James felt something in his hamstring. It’s not so nice for him to suffer another injury”.

The Blues went on to lose 2-0 to Everton without their captain on the field, with Lewis Dobbin scoring his first senior goal for the Toffees to secure yet another huge win for the hosts at Goodison Park.
Mauricio Pochettino was forced to pull his captain from the action after just 27 minutes, with a knock that is expected to keep the Blues star out over the remainder of the Christmas period.
James’ injury history seems to become more and more alarming with each match that a goes past, as the 24-year-old has missed 140 days of action in 2023 with different injuries – which is a considerable amount heading into another spell on the bench during a busy Christmas period.
Chelsea’s captain is having a nightmare season so far with just five Premier League starts after the Everton loss, mostly because of injury but also due to suspension when he picked up a red card against Newcastle at the end of November.
The Blues will almost certainly face Sheffield United next weekend without their club captain, but Pochettino is yet to give a full statement on the severity of the injury.
