Real Betis vs Rangers Preview
Rangers travel to Spain to take on La Liga side Real Betis in their final Europa League group game on Thursday night, with both sides looking to confirm their position in the tournament’s last-16.
The winner of the clash will advance as the group winners, while the loser could end up dropping down to the Conference League in third place depending on the result in Aris Limassol vs Sparta Prague.
Betis fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat in the reverse fixture at Ibrox on Matchday 1, where Abdallah Sima’s second half strike proved to be enough for Michael Beale’s side. Of course, Beale has since been dismissed with Philippe Clement now in charge of the Glaswegian side.
Rangers are in excellent form under their new boss and are unbeaten in 13 straight matches since his arrival. Their last three matches have all ended in victories, with the Gers overcoming St Mirren, Hearts and Dundee in the Scottish Premiership.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side are also in strong form with just one defeat in their last 17 matches. That loss came during their last European outing against Sparta Prague at the end of last month, and they come into this one off the back of a 1-1 stalemate with Real Madrid.
