Despite being left out of Gareth Southgate’s recent England squads, Raheem Sterling is performing well at Chelsea and is slowly getting back to his best.
Sterling’s Chelsea stats
Raheem Sterling has been involved in one goal in each of his last three Premier League appearances (two goals, one assist), his best run as a Chelsea player. He is looking to score in three games in a row for the first time since December 2021, when he was at Manchester City (four in a row).
Sterling has eight G/A (goals and assists) for Chelsea in all competitions so far this season.
The Englishmen is also up for the November Player of the Month award as well as Goal of the Month after his tremendous freekick against Newcastle.
It’s been a rocky couple of years for Sterling as he was dropped from the Manchester City team as Pep Guardiola preferred Jack Grealish.
Now Sterling is back to playing regularly, you’re starting to see that same flair that got 128 goals in a Manchester City shirt.
Sterling’s Euro 2024 chances
Despite an improvement in form, Sportslens make Sterling 9/4 to make the EURO squad – as he seems to be out of favour with Southgate despite his performances vastly improving.
Once an integral part of England’s recent triumphs in major tournaments, it seems that Southgate won’t be showing the same loyalty to the Chelsea man as he has for other players in the team.
Sterling has 82 caps for England has scored 20 times for his country.
What’s next for Sterling?
Sterling just has to keep performing if there’s any hope for him in the EURO squad. The next fixtures for England come in March so his focus will be on club football.
Chelsea have some difficult games coming up that he should be looking to make a difference in. Trips to Old Trafford and Goodison Park await Chelsea over the Christmas period. They also have a huge Quarter-final match against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup.
