The departure of Harry Kane has been a sore one for Spurs. It’s left an attacking hole that needs filling in. With just six days left in the transfer market, they’ll be looking for a quick deal but Porto have rejected their bid for winger Pepe that is said to be around £51.4m.
Last season, Pepe made fifty-five appearances for Porto and managed fifteen goals & assists. Porto ended up using Pepe as a right-back for a large part of last season, although that is not his natural position.
With attacking options far and few between for Postecoglou, it’s safe to assume that he will end up playing him in his preferred position as a right-winger. Reports say that Porto are looking for a fee around £63m for the Brazilian which would mean Spurs would need an improved second bid of £12m more than their initial attempt.
FC Porto have refused a first proposal from #Tottenham for Pepê, however Spurs have not yet given up signing the winger.

Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou would like to expand his attacking options that appear to be short at the moment. Son and Kuluveski look to be getting back to their best but Richarlison continues to be a liability in front of goal for the North London side as he still only three goals to his name since signing for Spurs from Everton for £60m in the summer of 2022.
The signing of James Maddison from Leicester in the summer has already offered Spurs more of a creative presence in midfield with Spurs netting four goals in their opening two games, which half of them were assisted by the Englishman.
Postecoglou has also added Vicario and Van De Ven to his squad to help shore up the defence which conceded 63 goals in the Premier League last season.
Spurs failed to qualify for European football last season for the first time since 2009, after finishing in eight place. This could make them struggle in the transfer market when trying to attract top talent. Getting back into Europe will be a priority for Postecoglou and the next six days will be vital in the next step in achieving that, as Spurs will hope to make a couple of crucial signings.
