World Darts Championship Day 8 Tips

1:45pm – Jose De Sousa vs Jeffrey de Graaf: De Sousa To Win, Highest Checkout & Most 180s @ 12/5

Night eight of the 2024 World Darts Championship kicks off with Jose De Sousa taking on Jeffrey de Graaf for a spot in the third round.

‘The Special One’ has been a solid player in this tournament over recent years and he’s made the third round at least in each of his last three attempts, with his best finish coming last year in the last 16 before losing to Gerwyn Price.

De Sousa is a major champion having won the 2020 Grand Slam and if he brings his best game he’ll be hard to beat. His 2023 hasn’t been ideal but he was dealt a few unfortunate draws in the majors and has plenty more to give.

De Graaf lost in the first round of every BDO/PDC World Championship he’s played in since 2013 before breaking through this time around against Ritchie Edhouse. This match-up should prove too much to handle for the Swede however and the De Sousa match treble is a solid price at 12/5.

3:45pm – Dimitri van den Bergh vs Florian Hempel: Van Den Bergh To Win & Most 180s @ 5/6

Dimitri van den Bergh is another major champion we’ll see in the second round at Alexandra Palace on Friday, taking on Florian Hempel to book his return to the North London venue after Christmas.

Van den Bergh is as short as 66/1 to win the World Championship according to the best new UK betting sites. Last year, he made the semi-finals before crashing out in a 6-0 defeat at the hands of Michael van Gerwen.

When he’s on form, ‘The Dreammaker’ is one of the best players to watch in the PDC and over three years ago he landed his first major title at the World Matchplay. He enjoys the stage here and has had a few decent major finishes this year, including the semi-finals of the UK Open.

Hempel impressed to beat Irish debutant Dylan Slevin in the first round but he comes up against a different kettle of fish this time. Van den Bergh to win with the most 180s looks a nice selection for the accumulator at 5/6.

8:15pm – Martin Schindler vs Jermaine Wattimena: Schindler To Win, Highest Checkout & Most 180s @ 12/5

Martin Schindler returns to ‘Ally Pally’ and he’ll have plenty of German support behind him in his second round clash with Jermaine Wattimena, who disposed of Fallon Sherrock last weekend.

‘The Wall’ has enjoyed a breakout year, reaching the last 32 of the World Championship and World Matchplay as well as quarter-final finishes in the World Grand Prix and UK Open.

He narrowly lost to Michael Smith in the third round last year but he returns as a much more mature and polished player, primed for a deep run in this tournament.

Schindler has plenty to offer in the sport going forward and we’re backing his match treble at 12/5 to round off our 20/1 accumulator for Day 8.
