England’s oldest football club, Notts County, have denied rumours over the possibility of American superstar, Taylor Swift, becoming the new owner through a hilarious club statement.
Notts County have responded to rumours over Taylor Swift wanting to purchase the club in hilarious fashion, as the club’s current owners used her song names to squash any murmurs.
A front page spread had come to fruition, linking the Amercian with the club’s ownership and many fans became excited over the possibility.
The club have started the 2023-24 campaign strongly, sitting second in League Two after earning promotion from the national league last season.
In response to these rumours, a statement was released which leaned towards the humorous aspect of the rumour, including several Taylor Swift song titles.

The statement read: “As sorry as we are to disappoint the Swiftes in our fanbase, we’re going to have to shake this story off,’ the owners responded,
“There’s certainly no bad blood between ourselves and Taylor but, at such an exciting time for us and the club, she surely couldn’t have believed in her wildest dreams that we would relinquish our control,
“We’ll leave a blank space in tomorrow’s pre-match playlist for a track from her newly re-released 1989 album as a gesture of gratitude for her interest.”
The oldest club in the UK took the joke a step further, as they posted an edited image of Taylor Swift donning a suit and holding the National League play-off trophy – a sight many fans would have been keen to see.
