SportsLens odds compilers have revealed their pre-release prices for the next Tottenham Hotspur manager market with the traders revealing who is most likely to replace Antonio Conte.
- SportsLens traders release first Next Tottenham Hotspur Manager betting odds
- Antonio Conte exit nearing and replacements being assessed at Tottenham
- Mauricio Pochettino favourite but still considered doubtful
- Zinedine Zidane an option for Spurs with investment rumours rife
- Prices released on Thomas Frank, Thomas Tuchel, Marco Silva and other potential candidates
Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte is being backed to leave his position, following a defeat in the North London derby and a midweek capitulation against Manchester City which has Spurs five points behind the top four, having played a game more than their rivals, at the halfway stage in the season.
Italian transfer pundit Gianluca Di Marzio also confirmed this morning that he expects his compatriot to leave Tottenham at the end of the season, with both himself and the club expressing a disinterest in continuing their partnership.
Conte himself admitted that Champions League qualification is now a long shot and the Italian’s time at Tottenham is now surely coming to an end. Rumours of Qatari led investment in Spurs also hint that a managerial shake-up could be on the cards and so SportsLens.com have hired an official betting trader to compose odds on the next Tottenham Hotspur manager market, before they are released by Britain’s bookies.
The natural favourite is Mauricio Pochettino, who is a 5/2 shot with the SportsLens traders. The Argentine has been linked with various roles recently, having been out of work since leaving PSG. However, his links with both Spurs and the Parisiens means that our team think that it is less likely Poch moves to Spurs and more likely that he replaces Graham Potter at Chelsea.
Zinedine Zidane is the 7/1 second favourite in a fairly open betting heat, which is likely to be dictated by the road which Levy and his backers choose to pursue. Zidane would be a popular choice if Spurs are planning to invest then the three times Champions League manager is a huge draw. Zidane has long been linked with PSG but may feel that the chance to build at a Premier League club is a better option than in France, where lack of competition often causes Les Parisiens to stagnate somewhat.
Thomas Frank, at 8/1 is indicative of the alternative route open to Spurs. Frank has been a huge success at Brentford and seems primed for a step up to a top six club. He is a system manager and would have the backing of the supporters, who appear to be tired of a haphazard transfer policy and blame consistently shifting between players, manager and board in North London. Frank would likely require compensation at Brentford but an investment in a coach who has made his previous sides more than the sum of their parts could well be seen as cost effective.
Other names in the frame are Lazio boss Maurizio Sarri at 8/1 and Thomas Tuchel at 14/1. Both former Chelsea managers have Premier League experience and Spurs have a history of plucking those who have previously managed the Blues. Andre Villas-Boas, Jose Mourinho and Conte himself all cut their teeth in England at Stamford Bridge before moving to Spurs. None have enjoyed much success, however, which may prove a barrier to what would appear another easy choice for Levy.
Luis Enrique at 12/1 would represent an eye-catching appoint while Diego Simeone at 16/1 would no doubt bring the winning mentality Spurs fans crave. Simeone is rumoured to be nearing the exit at Atletico Madrid but it is unlikely he would want to move to a club not competing in the Champions League.
SportsLens.com Chief Editor Lee Astley said:
“We are pleased to be first to market with the next Tottenham Hotspur manager odds. A return for Pochettino seems like the easy and obvious choice for Daniel Levy but our trader is hesitant on whether a reunion would work for either party.
Zidane and Tuchel are ut of work and so will attract market attention but we believe that Spurs will probably look to build to the future after the short termism of Mourinho and Conte. Luis Enrique would probably be the dream choice but more likely options are Thomas Frank, Marco Silva or even Vincent Kompany. All three are managers on an upwards trajectory and would represent growth for Spurs, and possible value for punters in the market.”
