Newcastle’s Transfer Odds Suggest England Duo Could Be Heading To St James’ Park

Newcastle United’s transfer odds show that Eddie Howe could be set to sign two England internationals in the upcoming January window.

Both Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale and Kalvin Phillips of Manchester City look set to leave their respective clubs next month, at least on loan. And with Newcastle in the market for a goalkeeper to replace the injured Nick Pope, Ramsdale has been linked heavily.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has all but confirmed Phillips is on his way out the door at the Etihad. The midfielder is in desperate need of game time and could well be set to join Newcastle.

Aside from the pair of England stars, there have been plenty of other Newcastle transfer rumours. To give you an idea of just how likely these various moves are, we’ve compiled a list of the current Newcastle transfer odds for the January window.

Newcastle’s Most Likely January Signings

Topping our Newcastle transfer odds list is VfB Stuttgart striker, Serhou Guirassy. The 27-year-old Frenchman has scored 17 Bundesliga goals this season in just 14 games.

Guirassy has been linked with a number of potential clubs, but at 5/2, Newcastle appear to be one of the frontrunners.

Just below Guirassy in the odds chart is Aaron Ramsdale. It’s no secret that Newcastle are in for a goalkeeper following Nick Pope’s shoulder surgery. Pope is not expected back until around April, meaning Eddie Howe is likely to seek a replacement, if only temporarily.

With Ramsdale losing the starting shirt at Arsenal to David Raya, a loan move to the North East makes perfect sense for all involved. And at 7/2, the bookies appear to agree.

Another Newcastle transfer rumour that’s got plenty of coverage is Kalvin Phillips’ possible move to St James’ Park. The England midfielder has been starved of minutes at the Etihad.

Like Ramsdale, Phillips is in desperate need of regular football to ensure he makes Gareth Southgate’s squad for the upcoming Euros in June.

Several clubs have been linked with a move for the former Leeds United man, but Newcastle are among the favourites at 4/1.

Possible Newcastle Transfers In January

Moving down the Newcastle transfer odds list, there are a few surprises. Bayer Leverkusen’s 21-year-old Ecuadorian centre back Piero Hincapie is among those linked with the Magpies.

With 30 senior international caps since his debut in 2021, Hincapie has plenty of experience for a young man, and could add valuable depth at the back. At 6/1, he has a reasonable chance of moving to Newcastle in January.

A more familiar name is that of former Leeds winger Raphinha. Now at Barcelona, the Brazilian has struggled to nail down a starting shirt at the Nou Camp.

With three goals and seven assists for Barca this season, he would certainly add quality if he did return to the Premier League in January. But with odds of 9/1, it seems unlikely.

Even more unlikely is a shock return to England for Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese icon left Manchester United for Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr last year. He’s scored 30 goals in 31 league games in the Middle East, but has been linked with a move back to Europe.

It would certainly be a big shock to see Ronaldo in the black and white of Newcastle this season, but at 9/1 it’s not impossible.

Another potential goalkeeping option for Newcastle is Valencia’s Georgian shot stopper, Giorgi Mamardashvili. The 23-year-old joined Valencia from boyhood club Dinamo Tbilisi last January for less than £1 million. With six clean sheets in 22 La Liga games, Mamardashvili has a 10/1 chance of joining Newcastle in the upcoming window.

Newcastle Transfer Rumours

While there are plenty of players linked with a move to the Magpies, some Newcastle transfer rumours carry more weight than others.

Among the players at the lower end of our Newcastle transfer odds table is Jota. Not to be confused with Portuguese compatriot Diogo of Liverpool, Jota scored 11 and assisted ten goals for Celtic in the Scottish Premiership last season.

Since then, a big money move to Saudi’s Al-Ittihad has followed. But with odds of 12/1, there’s an outside chance we could see the winger move back to Britain and join Newcastle in January.

Another Al-Ittihad player, N’Golo Kante has won just about everything in football. The World Cup, Champions League and double Premier League winner has also lifted the Europa League, Club World Cup and no less than four FA Cups.

But rumour has it he may be eyeing a return to the Premier League. 14/1 odds suggest its highly unlikely to happen, but could we see Kante back in England for one last hurrah?

Also with odds of 14/1 is England youth international, Samul Iling-Junior. The 20-year-old winger left Chelsea for Serie A giants Juventus in 2020 while still a youth player, but has been linked with a move home to the Premier League.

And last but not least is Ruben Neves. Another player who moved to Saudi, the former Wolves midfielder is reportedly not happy at Al-Hilal. But with odds of 20/1, it would be a massive shock to see him join Newcastle in January.
