Mohamed Salah’s goals against Newcastle on Monday mean he is now in the Premier League’s top ten scorers of all-time.

Salah scored in the 49th minute before an 86th-minute penalty sealed a 4-2 win for the Reds. Jurgen Klopp’s men moved back to the top of the Premier League with the victory.

And with his 152nd and 153rd goal in the top flight, Salah has overtaken Michael Owen in the all-time Premier League goal rankings.

Mo Salah’s goals moved him above former Liverpool, Manchester United and England striker Owen, and he is now just nine behind Jermain Defoe.

Mo Salah’s Liverpool Stats

Since arriving at Anfield from Serie A side AS Roma in 2017, Salah has become a Liverpool legend. The Egyptian King now has 204 goals in 332 appearances for the club, as well as 88 assists.

Prior to joining Liverpool, Salah actually scored his first Premier League goal for Chelsea back in 2013/14.

The 31-year-old scored twice in 19 appearances at Stamford Bridge before joining Fiorentina, but started his European career with Swiss side FC Basel.

Salah netted 20 times in 77 games for Basel, earning him the move to Chelsea. To date, he has made 583 senior club appearances, scoring 281 times while also registering 141 assists.

Who Is The All-Time Premier League Top Scorer?

But despite his prolific record for Liverpool, Mo Salah is a long way off the all-time Premier League record.

With 260 Premier League goals, Alan Shearer is top of the overall scoring charts. The former Blackburn and Newcastle striker made his senior debut as a teenager for Southampton in 1987/88.

He would go on to rack up 361 goals in 699 appearances in all competitions, as well as 30 international goals.

Behind Shearer in second place is Harry Kane, who left Tottenham in the summer to join Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga.

Kane has already scored 25 times for Bayern, in just 22 matches. He left Spurs after scoring 213 Premier League goals for the club, and was well on course to chase down Shearer’s record.

When rumours first began to circulate linking Kane with his eventual move to Germany, Shearer joked he would fly him there personally in order to preserve his record.

But with Salah the highest-scoring player still active in the Premier League, we think Shearer should be safe for now.

Mo Salah is currently 107 goals behind the record, so would need several incredible seasons to come anywhere close.

One man who may be on course to beat Shearer is Erling Haaland. The Norwegian has already taken Shearer’s previous record for goals in a single season, with 36 for Manchester City last campaign.

Erling Haaland already has 50 Premier League goals in less than two full seasons.

And in only his second season in the division, Haaland has already hit 50 goals. At just 23, Haaland could easily play another ten years in the Premier League.

With 210 goals needed to beat the record, he would need to average 21 goals per season for the next decade to equal Shearer’s total.
