Mauricio Pochettino Says Mykhailo Mudryk ‘Still Needs To Improve’ Despite Scoring Against Arsenal

Mykhailo Mudryk bagged his maiden Stamford Bridge goal this weekend as Chelsea held Arsenal to a 2-2 stalemate on Saturday evening, however Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino has stated that the Ukrainian still has plenty within his game to improve upon.

Chelsea took a surprise 2-0 lead against Arsenal on Saturday evening, however the Blues were pegged back late on as Declan Rice and Leandro Trossard inspired Mikel Arteta’s men to salvage a point at Stamford Bridge.

Mykhailo Mudryk, who was heavily linked with the Gunners prior to his Chelsea move, scored the second for Mauricio Pochettino’s side – taking him to three goals in his last four starts for both club and country.

The 22-year-old scored in the derby against Fulham prior to the international window, before adding to his tally for Ukraine against Malta, and added another against the Gunners with what looked to be a cross into the box.

Despite being in his best form since arriving in the English capital from Shakhtar last January, Mudryk’s boss Pochettino says that the Ukrainian ‘still needs to improve’ further going forward.

“Mudryk is not at his best. He needs to improve.” the Argentine stated following the draw against Arsenal.

“He really needed his first goal at Stamford Bridge. He still needs to improve but with this goal, I think he is going to be more confident in the future.”

Thanks to Mudryk’s goal helping the Blues towards a vital point, the Stamford Bridge side have finally moved into the top half of the Premier League table – overtaking Crystal Palace on goal difference.

Chelsea suffered a very poor start to the campaign, but since being narrowly beaten by Aston Villa at the end of September, Pochettino’s side have enjoyed an unbeaten run of four straight matches across all competitions.

Up next, the Blues welcome Brentford in the league on Saturday afternoon in another all-London fixture, before hosting Blackburn Rovers in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup just four days later.
