Aston Villa take on Nottingham Forest on Monday night, and Matty Cash had high praise for current Forest boss Steve Cooper ahead of his Forest return.
Matty Cash played 141 games for Forest and was a fan favourite at the club before making a move to Aston Villa in 2020.
Cash has missed the last three league games with a hamstring injury, but is expected to make his return to Steven Gerrard’s squad on Monday night for the important clash with Forest.
The Villa fullback made his respect for Forest clear before the clash on Monday night, but also made a statement of intent to win.
“They played a big part in my life and I am like a Forest fan really but I want to beat them on Monday obviously. The City Ground atmosphere will be great but hopefully, we can silence them.
“Cooper has done an amazing job getting them promoted, it came out of nowhere really. But they have signed a lot of players in a short space of time and it might take them a little while to gel.”
It was rumoured that Steve Cooper was on his way out of forest last week, after a difficult start to the season for the Welshman however he has just been handed a two year contract extension.
