Following a thrilling 3-3 draw with Galatasaray, Manchester United have become the first English club in history to concede 14 goals in five Champions League group stage matches.
Manchester United’s Champions League Woes 23/24
The Red Devils started the campaign with one of the hardest fixtures in Europe, an away trip to Bayern Munich – who have not lost in the Group Stage since 2017.
Thomas Tuchel’s side beat United 4-3, after Andre Onana’s horror mistake on his Manchester United debut in the Champions League.
Erik ten Hag’s side then faced Galatasaray at home, where yet again they lost the match and the Turkish side left Old Trafford with a 3-2 result – despite United taking the lead.
Copenhagen were the next team to travel to Manchester and Harry Maguire’s header was enough to secure all three-points for the hosts.
In the reverse fixture, Manchester United took a 2-0 lead thanks to a Rasmus Hojlund brace. However, Marcus Rashford was sent off for a reckless challenge and Copenhagen went on to win 4-3.
Most recently, the Premier League side travelled to Turkey to face Galatasaray in what was deemed a ‘must-win’ match.
After taking a 2-0 lead again, through Alejandro Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes, Galatasaray managed to bring it back to 3-3 after another Andre Onana mistake,
United now sit bottom of the Group and if Copenhagen beat Bayern, then the English giants will crash out of the competition.
If Bayern can pick up the three points, then ten Hag’s side will need to beat Bayern Munich in their final UCL match and hope for a draw between Copenhagen/Galatasaray.
