Manchester City Vs Brighton Preview and Prediction
Manchester City return from the international break in somewhat unfamiliar circumstances, having lost each of their previous two Premier League fixtures; the first time this has happened since December 2018.
As history has shown on more than one occasion however, Pep Guardiola’s serial winners are just about the only team capable of bouncing back from a perceived ‘wobble’ by stringing together victory after victory.
City often don’t kick into second gear into later in the season, but there is slightly more pressure than usual resting on their shoulders given they are two points off the pace, and now face another tough test this weekend.
Not many teams, if any, managed to go toe-to-toe with the treble winners in the way Brighton did last season. They make the long trip north knowing that they can match City’s intensity, having stunted them in a fascinating 1-1 draw at the end of last season.
Roberto De Zerbi will be slightly concerned his side have been more susceptible to conceding goals this year, but the Seagulls have been able to counter-balance their fragility at the back by scoring the most goals in the league after eight games (21).
Guardiola’s men return to home soil for the first time since the 23rd September, and given the implications should they fail to find all three points, we are predicting them to bounce back in typically ruthless fashion.

Manchester City vs Brighton Tip 1: City to Score Over 2.5 Goals
There is absolutely no way Pep Guardiola will allow his team to go winless for a fourth straight game in all competitions.
Expect the champions to fire out the blocks to try and peg Brighton back as quick as possible, as the likes of West Ham and Aston Villa have already done to great effect this term.
De Zerbi’s men will of course have a game plan of their own, and it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them get on the scoresheet, as they have done in each of the two meetings between these two.
However, 16 goals conceded in the league, including eight in their previous two, is not the sort of record you want to be boasting when playing away at City.
The Cityzens won the repeat of this fixture comfortably in a 3-1 victory just one day shy of a year ago to the day, and we expect them to score at least three again on Saturday.
Manchester City vs Brighton Tip 2: Julian Alvarez to Score
Erling Haaland is, and will always be City’s most potent threat in front of goal when he gets the opportunity, but it can certainly be argued Julian Alvarez has been their standout performer this season.
Seven goal involvements in eight appearances shows just how vital he has been to City’s bid for a third title, and operating in the half-spaces against Brighton he should be able to find the necessary pockets to be effective once more.
