The latest Manchester United transfer exclusive reveals that the Red Devils are in hot pursuit of talented Atalanta defender Giorgio Scalvini, who could be open to leaving Italy this summer.

Giorgio Scalvini Targeted By United Ahead Of Summer Makeover

Manchester United have received early assurances that Giorgio Scalvini will be open to a move to the Premier League next summer. The impressive young Atalanta defender is described as a “real target” by sources at a time when scouts have begun watching him more regularly.

It is understood representatives took in his last match against Lazio and were again impressed by him in the 3-1 win. They will continue to track him as the club’s hierarchy takes shape in the coming weeks.

It is difficult to gauge exactly how United’s targets are positioned between here and the end of the season as their transfer plans for the summer are not yet concrete.

Benfica’s Antonio Silva, Jean-Claire Todibo of Nice and Everton’s Jarrad Brathwaite are already on the radar for next summer’s transfer window in terms of defensive reinforcements while Juventus centre-back Bremer is also admired.

But with United yet to name a new sporting director or head of recruitment, there is a feeling that transfers target lists are subject to change.

However, 20-year-old Scalvini fits the profile United are currently looking for as they seek long-term targets. A deal would not be cheap as he recently signed a new contract until 2028 and is going to be valued upwards of £50million.

But indications out of Italy this week are that Scalvini is prepared to leave Atalanta in the summer and is very interested in a Premier League move.

Other clubs including Man City, Chelsea and Newcastle have been linked with Scalvini, who has already broken into the Italy national team.
