Luton vs Chelsea Preview & Prediction
Chelsea travel up to Kenilworth Road for their final fixture of the calendar year on Saturday afternoon, as they take on an in-form Luton side in the Premier League‘s Gameweek 20 opener.
The Blues head into the clash occupying 10th place in the table after overcoming Crystal Palace via a narrow 2-1 scoreline in midweek, which followed on from their disappointing 2-1 loss to Wolves at Molineux on Christmas Eve.
Despite boasting two successive wins in the top flight, the Hatters remain in the relegation zone. Rob Edwards’ side came from behind to beat Sheffield United last time out, and edged Newcastle 1-0 in the game prior, which sees them sit just a point from safety with a game in hand on those around them in the table.
Of course, this fixture marks the second half of the league campaign – therefore the pair have already met once this term, back in Gameweek 3. Chelsea were the comfortable 3-0 victors in that one, as Raheem Sterling netted a brace, coupled with Nicolas Jackson’s first competitive goal for the club.
Luton seem to have found their feet in the top flight since then though, and although we at SportsLens are anticipating another win for Mauricio Pochettino‘s side – we are only expecting them to do so by a narrow margin.
Prediction: Luton 1-2 Chelsea

Luton vs Chelsea Betting Tips
- Chelsea To Win @ 3/5
- Raheem Sterling To Score Anytime @ 21/10
- Combined Bet Builder Odds @ 3/1
Luton vs Chelsea Betting Tip 1: Chelsea To Win @ 3/5
Our first tip for your Saturday afternoon Luton vs Chelsea Premier League bet builder is to back the Blues to win the clash, priced by leading UK betting sites at 3/5.
The West Londoners returned to winning ways against Palace in midweek as previously alluded to, but they’ll be boosted even further for this one with the returns of Cole Palmer and Sterling, who are available once again after serving a one-match suspension.
We expect that the pair will come straight into the line-up and inspire the Blues to a fifth consecutive victory against Luton on Saturday, leaving the Bedfordshire-based side without a victory in the fixture in more than 30 years.
Luton vs Chelsea Betting Tip 2: Raheem Sterling To Score Anytime @ 21/10
Having been afforded a much-needed rest amid the hectic winter schedule due to a one-match suspension last time around, we expect to see Sterling fit-and-firing upon his return to the line-up at Kenilworth Road.
The winger is without a goal in any of his last five league matches, which could be attributed to the amount of games in such a short space of time, however he has still managed to contribute with two assists in that time.
Sterling’s best return of the season came in the reverse fixture back in August, netting either side of the half time whistle in a 3-0 win, and at 21/10 – you can back him to haunt the Hatters once more by scoring at anytime.
