Darts sensation Luke Littler is already the favourite to win the 2024 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award after his fairytale run to the PDC World Championship final.
The 16-year old’s meteoric rise has been the talk of the sporting world for the last few weeks and although he fell short against Luke Humphries on Wednesday, he has a bright future ahead of him.
Littler’s Ally Pally heroics haven’t gone unnoticed and he is not only shortlisted to win the prestigious BBC award in December, but the best UK betting sites make him the 5/1 favourite to win it.
Luke Littler
Born in Runcorn on January 21st 2007, Luke Littler has been throwing arrows since he was just 18 months old and he hasn’t looked back since.
He recorded his first 180 by the age of six and hit his first ever nine-dart finish when he was 13. Littler was a member of the St Helens Darts academy where he continued to flourish.
The ‘Nuke’ has won a whole host of youth tournaments and events and he quickly rose to prominence and has since gone on to earn a spot at the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship, where he went on to create history.

Littler At The Worlds
Anyone outside the darts circuit would be forgiven for not recognising Luke Littler before the 2024 PDC World Darts Championship.
Littler had not only beaten former champions Raymond van Barneveld and Rob Cross on his journey to the final, he is the youngest player to win at the tournament and set the highest ever average for a debutant at 106.12.
In the final itself, Littler fought back from two sets down to take a 4-2 lead, before finally succumbing to Luke Humphries 7-4 in an Ally Pally classic.

Luke Littler is rightfully the favourite to win the 2024 BBC Sports Personality of the Year award. Even though there’s been less than a week into the new year!

Littler was absolutely heroic despite his defeat to Humphries but after he caught the imagination of the sporting world, it’s going to take something – or someone – epic to better his superb achievements.
