Liverpool vs Nottingham Forest Preview and Prediction
Since winning 1-0 away at Stamford Bridge, Nottingham Forest’s fortunes have faded slightly and their grasp on the top half has slipped.
Although they have salvaged a point in four of their last five games, Forest missed out on perhaps one of their perceived dead-cert ‘three pointers’ after letting a two-goal lead slip in the final seven minutes against Luton last weekend.
It leaves them all the way down in 15th and winless in almost two months.
As for Liverpool, they will hope to consolidate their position in the top four with Aston Villa breathing down their necks in fifth.
The Reds bounced back from two winless games in last weekend’s Merseyside derby, propelling them back into contention for early title discussions, as they sit just a point off Arsenal and Manchester City.
While the hosts will be fully expectant of all three points, both head-to-heads last season were far from comfortable. The reverse of this fixture saw Forest run out unexpected 1-0 victors, while the exact repeat of this weekend’s affair saw Mohamed Salah score a crucial late winner in a 3-2 victory to keep their hopes of European football alive.
Salah’s irrepressible form has continued into this campaign, as is to be expected, and we are predicting him to star once more this weekend.

Mohammed Salah has 11 goal involvements in nine appearances so far this season. Even though they are no doubt mightily impressive numbers, it is testament to Salah’s lofty standards that fans barely bat an eyelid – this is just what we have come to expect.
The Egyptian has been particularly crucial in Liverpool’s recent games, scoring consecutive braces against Brighton and Everton.
He has also scored or assisted in each of his last 13 appearances at Anfield, and at 11/4 to be the first goalscorer this weekend, we think this represents solid value.

Nottingham Forest have no doubt improved on their ability to see out games, particularly away from home having flipped their dismal record on the road last season on its head.
They have beaten Chelsea, and were the cause of some nervy moments for Arsenal and Manchester United earlier on in the season which indicates they are slightly more daring this term.
This does seem to be leaving them open to conceding in important moments, as their 2-2 draw with Luton perhaps best displayed.
Liverpool have won all four of their Premier League games at home so far, scoring three or more in all but one of those at Anfield. They can reach that tally again this weekend.
