Match Report: Liverpool vs Toulouse
- The Reds took an early lead as Diogo Jota slotted the ball into the bottom left corner, after a dazzling solo run.
- Toulouse found a shock equaliser just minutes later through Thijs Dallinga.
- Wataru Endo restored the hosts lead, from a sublime Trent Alexander-Arnold pass.
- Just four minutes later Liverpool doubled their lead, as Darwin Nunez guided the ball past Guillaume Restes.
- The second-half dwindled, however, Ryan Gravenberch made it four in the 65th minute.
- Mohamed Salah confirmed the victory in added time, scoring his ninth goal of the season (all competitions)
Match Report: Brighton vs Ajax
- The Seagulls were patient in the opening stages of the match, tiring Ajax with their volume of passes.
- Brighton broke the deadlock in the 42nd minute, as Joao Pedro reacted first to Kaoru Mitoma’s saved effort.
- Ansu Fati doubled the lead just minutes into the second half.
- Ajax failed to register a shot on target during the match and left the South Coast distraught.
Can Liverpool or Brighton win the Europa League?
Liverpool have been the bookies’ favourites since the beginning of the competition and are yet to lose a match, conceding just two goals.
Jurgen Klopp’s side have been flawless in the competition and tonight’s result confirmed their place as the team to watch in the Europa League.
Brighton, on the other hand, had yet to register a win in Europe, drawing to both AEK Athens and Marseille in the opening two matches.
However, tonight they completely outclassed Ajax, boasting an impressive 63% possession and stopping the Dutch side from testing their goalkeeper once.
Liverpool face Nottingham Forest in the Premier League this weekend and travel to France, where they will face Toulouse once again in their next Europa League clash.
Brighton will face Ajax in their next European encounter, but before that, the Seagulls face Fulham and Everton in their next Premier League encounters.
