Jurgen Klopp has stunned Liverpool supporters with a video message announcing his retirement.
Jurgen Klopp’s Message
Klopp addressed Liverpool supporters with a video message. He said: “I will leave the club at the end of the season”.
He went onto say “I can understand that it’s a shock for a lot of people in this moment, when you hear it for the first time, but obviously I can explain it – or at least try to explain it.
“I love absolutely everything about this club, I love everything about the city, I love everything about our supporters, I love the team, I love the staff. I love everything. But that I still take this decision shows you that I am convinced it is the one I have to take.”
Explaining the decision, Jurgen Klopp added: “It is that I am, how can I say it, running out of energy. I have no problem now, obviously, I knew it already for longer that I will have to announce it at one point, but I am absolutely fine now. I know that I cannot do the job again and again and again and again.
“After the years we had together and after all the time we spent together and after all the things we went through together, the respect grew for you, the love grew for you and the least I owe you is the truth – and that is the truth.”

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool Legacy
Jurgen Klopp arrived in 2015; taking over from Brendan Rogers. He soon turned Liverpool into a feared side once again with his brand of ‘heavy metal football.’
His signings were so impactful and cheap. Andy Robertson for £8m, Joel Matip for free, Sadio Mane for £34m, Mohamed Salah for £36.5m. Liverpool splashed the cash on Virgil Van Dijk, Allison and Fabinho but they proved to be essential signings.
By 2019, he led Liverpool to their sixth Champions League trophy and the trophies didn’t stop there. The following season he had won Liverpool’s first ever Premier League title, Super Cup and their debut Club World Cup.
He’ll be hoping to end his last five months at the club with more trophy wins and luckily for Liverpool they’re with a chance of winning all four.
They have a Carabao Cup final tie against Chelsea. They’re in the FA Cup fourth round. They’re in the knockout stages of the Europa League and they’re leading the way in the Premier League.
Who Will Replace Klopp?
Liverpool fans would tell you no one. But someone has to, and Xabi Alonso has been linked with the job. His Bayer Leverkusen side have yet to lose a match this season. They’re looking to cause an upset in the Bundesliga by taking the title off Bayern Munich.
And, of course, as a player Alonso has a past connection with the fans and the club.
Another former Reds playing legend Steven Gerrard is a possible candidate too, but he hasn’t exactly proved himself in the managerial department yet and is currently bossing Saudi side Al Ettifaq.
Of the rest, Roberto De Zerbi took Brighton into the Europa League last season and he could be another to thrown is hat into the upcoming vacant Klopp role.
