Getafe have made an official complaint to La Liga over something that Jude Bellingham said to Mason Greenwood.
What happened between the two?
During a match between Real Madrid and Getafe, Bellingham was caught on camera saying an ‘offensive remark’ to Greenwood that was in reference to his court trial he had against his ex-girlfriend.
La Liga has referred the incident to RFEF (Royal Spanish Football Federation). The committee has reportedly hired a judge to investigate the claim and a decision will be made in the next two weeks.
The most games Bellingham could miss is 10. The outcome would have to be deemed ‘grave’ in order for that to happen. The likely amount he will miss is four. This is if the outcome of the claim is ‘serious’.
Bellingham is out for three weeks anyway with a sprained ankle.
There’s a good chance that Bellingham will escape with no charge. There’s an unwritten law in La Liga that sees no action take place if the event wasn’t picked up by match officials on the day.
La Liga’s statement
Speaking about the incident between Greenwood and Bellingham, LaLiga said: “It must also be reported that after the end of the match, messages were detected through social media regarding a possible incident in which visiting player Jude Bellingham allegedly insulted local player Mason Greenwood in English after an action in the game.
“Numerous media outlets have reported on this incident, as confirmed in the attached incident report.”
Greenwood and Bellingham
The only thing that separates the two England internationals is two years in age and 136 miles from their home town’s.
Greenwood was tipped to become a Manchester United legend before his abuse allegations. He was shipped off to Getafe this season on a year-loan as Manchester United decide what to do with him. He has 10 G/A in 20 games for Getafe so far.
It’s likely that Manchester United will part ways with Greenwood as keeping him in the camp will damage their reputation.
As for Bellingham, he’s the biggest young talent in world football. Just 20-years-old and he’s already one of the best midfielders in the world. He joined Real Madrid last summer and he has a whopping 28 G/A in 29 games.
Gareth Southgate will hope he can be the difference maker in England’s bid for Euro glory this summer.
