Jarrod Bowen’s goals this season have been crucial to West Ham’s climb up the Premier League table under David Moyes.
The Irons rose to sixth in the Premier League on Thursday thanks to a dominant, 2-0 victory against title-chasing Arsenal at the Emirates. It could have been 3-0 but for a late penalty miss by Saïd Benrahma.
Goals from Tomáš Souček and Konstantinos Mavropanos were enough for West Ham to take all three points. While Bowen did not get on the scoresheet, he did turn provider for Souček’s opener.
It was a controversial goal, with Bowen’s cross from the byline looking like it may have gone out of play. But with no conclusive replay evidence, the VAR and referee stuck with the on-field decision and awarded the goal.
Although unable to add to his tally, Bowen has been in superb scoring form so far, and is outshining several of last night’s opposition.
Jarrod Bowen Stats
The 27-year-old now has more Premier League goals than three of Arsenal’s biggest stars combined. Bukayo Saka (5), Gabriel Jesus (3) and Gabriel Martinelli (2) have a combined total of ten league goals this season.

But Jarrod Bowen has already scored 11 on his own. With another two in the Carabao Cup, the England international has 13 in all competitions this campaign.
Bowen has not yet scored in this year’s UEFA Europa League, but has played a pivotal role in West Ham’s qualification for the knockouts. He has two assists in four matches in Europe this season, with a total of five in all competitions.
Jarrod Bowen’s Career So Far
West Ham haven’t always been able to rely on Jarrod Bowen’s goals. As a youngster born in Herefordshire, he had unsuccessful trials with Aston Villa and Cardiff City, before starting his career with Hereford United.
His performances for the then National League side earned him a move to Hull City in 2014, joining on a free transfer. While at Hull, Bowen would score 54 times in 131 appearances for the Tigers.
Bowen signed for West Ham in January 2020 for a fee of around £22 million. He scored on his first start for the Irons in a 3-1 win against Southampton on 29 February.
Since then, Jarrod Bowen has racked up 182 appearances for West Ham, scoring 53 times. His first senior international call-up came for England on 24 May 2022 for the Three Lions’ Nations League matches with Hungary, Germany and Italy.
He made his debut for Gareth Southgate’s team in a 1-0 loss to Hungary, playing the full 90 minutes. Bowen was not included in the England squad for last year’s World Cup in Qatar, with manager David Moyes saying his form had suffered following the omission.

But in October 2023 he was recalled to the squad and started in England’s 1-0 victory over Australia, his first appearance at Wembley.
And with the form he has been in this season, it seems highly likely that Bowen will add to his five senior caps in the very near future.
