The latest Aston Villa transfer news reveals that Jacob Ramsey could be on the move this summer with plenty of top clubs interested in his signature.
Jacob Ramsey Could Be On Move This Summer
The uncertainty around Jacob Ramsey’s Aston Villa future will intensify at the end of the season as top Premier League clubs consider an approach.
The 22-year-old midfielder was linked with a switch to Newcastle United last month and while that did not progress, sources believe we have not seen the end of that situation.
Newcastle are expected to show interest again when we get to the summer window but Tottenham and Manchester United are believed to have an eye on him too.
Villa are not actively looking to sell, but there is a feeling the club are likely to have to consider the sale of squad members before they are able to make significant squad reinforcements for Unai Emery.
Ramsey is one of the players that could bring in good money, where it’s thought that bids of around £50million would give Villa a serious decision to make.
He has come through the club’s Academy and would generate solid profit for Villa, who are in a decent position in terms of Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules, but need to consider how they can continue to strengthen.
Spurs and Man United are both on the lookout for new midfield options and have a preference to find someone with Premier League experience, while the added bonus of a player with homegrown status would appeal even more.
Mauricio Pochettino‘s side have been eyeing Conor Gallagher of Chelsea in recent times as they look for new alternatives in the centre of the park. They have not made any active moves around that deal yet but continue to monitor his contract situation at Stamford Bridge.
Ramsey has had a stop-start season at Villa as a foot injury held him back in October, but he started Villa’s last game against Man United and is still considered to be key to Emery in the closing months of this campaign as Villa attempt to battle for a Champions League position.
