Some incredible Marc Cucurella stats show why Chelsea will look to sell the defender in the next transfer window. The Spaniard hasn’t had the smoothest time at the Blues since joining from Brighton in 2022, despite him recently saying he is ‘very happy’ at the club despite a difficult first season.

Cucurella will miss Chelsea’s next Premier League game, which is against the Seagulls, after picking up his fifth booking of the season in the 4-1 drubbing against Newcastle, but it’s the incredible stats that will be the bigger cause for concern.

Marc Cucurella’s Incredible Stats

According to ChicagoDmitry on X, Cucurella has completed just six crosses into the opposition box since joining the club 15 months ago and none of them have come this season. In total, the Spaniard has made 42 appearances for Chelsea which further demonstrates just how little he has offered as an attacking outlet or threat.

Furthermore, Cucurella has completed just 13 successful passes into the opposition box in the same time. A truly staggering stat which will surely not go unnoticed by the management and hierarchy of the west Londoners. On a slightly brighter note, the 25-year old does have three clean sheets to his name this campaign but it’s hard to ignore his poor attacking stats.

Marc Cucurella To Leave Chelsea?

Chelsea have spent £1bn since Todd Boehly took ownership and it’s certainly no secret a lot of the signings haven’t justified their hefty price tags, Cucurella included. The American businessman has come under some pressure in recent times with questionable acquisitions coupled with some very poor performances on the pitch, Cucurella and co. will surely be in the firing line.

During his time at Brighton, Cucurella was one of the stars of the 2021/22 season and many thought his move to west London – offering UEFA Champions League football for the first time in his career as well- would see him excel and develop in to one of Europe’s finest defenders – but things most certainly haven’t worked out that way.

Suitors For Marc Cucurella

Manchester City, Manchester United and Real Madrid had previously been linked with Marc Cucurella, as had Newcastle, but it’s very unlikely any of those clubs would be interested in his signature at the moment. Of course, Cucurella could return to the heights he reached two seasons ago but it looks more than likely that to achieve this, he will have to try his luck at a team who is perhaps not as big as the English and Spanish giants.

Plenty of Premier League sides would almost certainly take an interest in Cucurella this January – whether that be for a loan deal or permanent transfer – and a move back to Spain wouldn’t be the worst idea to get his career back on track. However, Cucurella, as a modern day footballer, must offer more going forward as his incredible stats will put off a lot of club’s from across the continent in acquiring his services.
