Grand Slam Of Darts Finals Day Semi-Finals Betting Tips
Luke Humphries vs James Wade: Humphries To Win, Most 180s & Highest Checkout @ 21/20
Luke Humphries has been utterly unplayable this tournament. With five wins out of five, yielding averages of over 100 in each, Humphries is just two wins away from winning his second career PDC major.
His 16-14 triumph over Gary Anderson is a contender for match of the tournament, with both players hitting a mammoth 23 180s between them.
His semi-final opponent, James Wade, edged past Josh Rock in a 16-15 clash that had you on the edge of your seat, particularly during its conclusion. Rock impressed and was perhaps the better overall player on the night, but Wade’s experience and composure during those tense pressure moments got him over the line, as it has done in the past.
It must be said that Wade’s doubling has been exceptional this tournament. His checkout percentage over his five matches is over 50%. Also, ‘The Machine’ has won 40 of the 44 legs in which he’s had darts at the double; that’s 90.9%!
It was Wade that won in their last outing, and his consistency, know-how, and finishing will keep him in this match of course, but we can’t see Humphries being stopped here. ‘Cool Hand Luke’ is playing with bundles of confidence since his World Grand Prix win.
We expect Humphries to continue his momentous run in the semi-final and are combining the win with the most 180s and the highest checkout.
Stephen Bunting vs Rob Cross: Bunting Bullseye Checkout In The Match @ 6/5
Since switching to a heavier dart, Stephen Bunting has been playing the best darts of his career, winning 12 of his last 15 matches. After avenging his earlier defeat to Stowe Buntz, ‘The Bullet’ is two wins away from his first PDC major.
His semi-final opponent, Rob Cross, is also playing with confidence in what has been a solid year for ‘Voltage’. In what started out as a close affair, Cross thrashed Damon Heta in the quarter-finals 16-6, winning the last 10 legs.
Cross has won eight of the 12 meetings with Bunting and is priced as the favourite to win again here. However, our attention is on a different market. Bunting has hit four of his seven attempted bullseye finishes at this year’s Grand Slam of Darts. With BetMGM you can back a Bunting bullseye checkout in the match at 6/5.
Another pick that catches the eye is either player to hit 6+ perfect darts of a 9 dart finish at a generous 11/8 with BetMGM.
Grand Slam of Darts Finals Day Final Betting Tips
Luke Humphries vs Rob Cross: Humphries To Win & Most 180s @ 10/11
Despite a rocky start in the afternoon session against Wade, Humphries kept his cool and prodded through to the final with a fairly convincing 16-10 win over the three-time finalist.
Cross got the better of Bunting, despite a late charge from ‘The Bullet’, claiming a 16-13 victory. The two meet in the final at approximately 7.30pm, which will crown a new Grand Slam of Darts champion.
Both players will fancy themselves, but it’s Humphries who the bookmakers are getting behind, offering odds-on for ‘Cool Hand Luke’ to claim his second PDC major in as many months.
We’re inclined to agree with the bookies here; we just can’t see a confident Luke Humphries being stopped on this particular occasion, and we’re combining the win with the most 180s at a generous 10/11.
If you want a tastier selection, you can combine this with Rob Cross to hit the match’s highest checkout, at around 7/2.
