Welcome to the latest article in a new series for the 2023/24 Fantasy Premier League season from FPL Heisenberg for SportsLens. In this weekly series, Heisenberg will be looking into the best three players for your FPL team – along with one juicy differential.

@FPL_Heisenberg has a proven track record in FPL, having finished inside the top 1% of managers in each of the last 9 seasons – including a best finish of 836th. Let’s cook!

FPL Heisenberg Fantasy Premier League Tips Gameweek 23

Anthony Gordon (Fixture: Luton, Home)

Anthony Gordon has been electric at St James’ Park this season, and with injuries to Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson, he is set to lead the line for Newcastle at home to Luton; this should result in more chances to score. Penalty duty may also be calling in the absence of Newcastle’s aforementioned missing strikers – but this remains to be seen.

As mentioned, Gordon has been excellent at home this season with 11 attacking returns (six goals and five assists) in 11 home starts. Despite facing a Luton side who are surprising us of late, I still expect a home win for the Magpies and plenty of goals to boot.

Should that happen, it’ll likely be a sizeable FPL return for Anthony Gordon (and hopefully a big return for his teammate who gets a mention later in this article).

Kevin De Bruyne (Fixture: Brentford, Away)

Kevin De Bruyne makes the list for a second week in a row. I wanted – and expected – more than his seven FPL points against Burnley, but we can’t get greedy.

This week I’m expecting another big win for City and I hope De Bruyne can be involved more this week. Brentford are conceding plenty of goals as of late and Manchester City will be hoping to continue dominating their opponents – especially with a fully fit squad to inflict maximum damage.

De Bruyne got a bonus point last game even though he only got one assist, highlighting his potential for bonus points. Just one goal against Brentford should mean a double-digit return once the bonus points are added.

Generally speaking, bringing in Man City assets is also a solid move for the future, with a favourable run of fixtures; two matches in Gameweek 25 and they avoid the blank in Gameweek 26. Furthermore, they are the best team in the league and as we all know, this is the time of the season when they really kick into gear.

Ollie Watkins (Fixture: Sheffield United, Away)

Ollie Watkins has bagged 10 goals and amassed 11 assists this season making him a great pick this Gameweek (and even a captaincy consideration too). A plumb fixture awaits for the Englishman away at bottom-of-the-league Sheffield United, who have conceded the most goals of any team in the league.

Watkins is the main man for Villa, both in terms of goal contributions and minutes on the pitch. He’s played 90 minutes in each of the last 18 Premier League games for Aston Villa – this is great for the potential of late goals which have been frequent this campaign.

I’m predicting a comfortable win for Aston Villa, scoring at least two goals. I’d be amazed if Watkins blanks in this one.

Schar can build on midweek brace

DifferentialFabian Schar (Fixture: Luton, Home)

Fabian Schar (who is owned by less than 7% of managers) scored a brace away to Aston Villa last Gameweek – which was painful for me having him on my bench! Hopefully he has found his goalscoring touch ahead of Luton’s visit to St James’ Park.

As mentioned earlier, I’m predicting a big home win for Newcastle.  Hopefully that can come with a clean sheet for Schar and with a bit of luck – another attacking return from him.

Newcastle are about to begin a favourable run of fixtures too, which is why I wanted to include two Toon players in this week’s article.
