Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has shortened as the next Premier League manager to be sacked following his side’s exit in the Carabao Cup.
- Sheffield United’s Paul Heckingbottom remains favourite to be shown the door next
- Erik ten Hag priced as 11/8 second-favourite following early failure of Carabao Cup defence
- Andoni Iraola and Vincent Kompany amongst candidates after disappointing starts
Ten Hag finds himself in deep, hot water after his side were dumped out of the Carabao Cup in the fourth round by Newcastle United – the side they beat in the competition’s final last season.
The Dutchman has come under increased scrutiny following a bleak run of form from the Red Devils, who also fell to an embarrassing 3-0 defeat at home to Manchester City on Sunday.
Further dismay could be on the cards ahead of a difficult trip to Craven Cottage in the Premier League this weekend and they also face an uphill battle to get out of their Champions League group.

However, the current favourite to be the next English top-flight manager sacked is Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom.
The Blades have failed to pick up a league win so far, drawing once and losing nine. They’ve fell to defeat in each of their last six outings, conceding a combined 22 goals.
If Heckingbottom is shown the door, the club are expected to put a package together for Chris Wilder to return to Bramall Lane.
Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola is also a leading candidate, with his side picking up just six points in ten Premier League games this season.
Vincent Kompany received significant applause and recognition for his impressive job guiding Burnley back to the top-flight last season, but he’s another name on the chopping block.
