Manchester United were turned over 6-3 on Sunday afternoon in the Manchester derby, with new $70 million signing Casemiro yet again sitting on the bench until deep in the second half.
Casemiro is a five time Champions League winner, so when Manchester United were able to acquire the Brazilian at the end of summer, Red Devils fans will have understandably been full of excitement.
Since arriving in August however, Casemiro has only started one game out of six for United in what was a disappointing Europa League defeat to real Sociedad.
When questioned about why Casemiro was not starting for his side, Erik Ten Hag explained that it was all down to United’s recent winning run.
“On the day we signed him, we started to win and it’s about the team. The team is doing really well, it’s not against Casemiro, it’s for, in this case, Scott McTominay, he performed great in the team and then we get into a run.
“But I’m sure it will be important for us in the long and short-term, he will find himself in the team but it has to come in a natural way.”

Casemiro has still been featuring for United, with the 30-year old regularly coming on from the bench late in the second half alongside former Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo.
United had been in scintillating form coming into the weekend, as they had won four league games in a row, including wins over top four rivals Liverpool and Arsenal.
With Manchester United’s winning run coming to an emphatic end on Sunday to rival’s Manchester City, is Casemiro about to get his first real chance in a United shirt?
