Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is the new favourite to be the next Premier League manager shown the door following a catastrophic Champions League defeat.

  • Ten Hag shortens to 5/4 to be the next top-flight boss sacked
  • Sheffield United’s Paul Heckingbottom reduced to 7/4 second-favourite
  • Andoni Iraola, Vincent Kompany and Steve Cooper amongst other candidates

Next Premier League Manager To Be Sacked Odds

  • Erik ten Hag @ 5/4
  • Paul Heckingbottom @ 7/4
  • Andoni Iraola @ 5/1
  • Vincent Kompany @ 6/1
  • Steve Cooper @ 18/1
  • Mauricio Pochettino @ 20/1
  • David Moyes @ 22/1

It could very well be the end of Erik ten Hag’s reign in Manchester following his side’s 4-3 defeat away in the Champions League against Copenhagen, which all but confirms the end of their involvement in the competition.

Sitting bottom of Group A behind both Copenhagen and Galatasaray, United’s European campaign has been nothing short of disastrous with one win and three losses – conceding 11 goals in the process.

The Red Devils have lost 9 of their last 17 outings in all competitions and whilst Wednesday night’s defeat can be argued it had nothing to do with the manager, the buck stops with him and United’s board of directors could move quickly to hand the position to someone else in an attempt to salvage their season.

Club legend Paul Scholes believes that Ten Hag should stay in the hot seat despite the club’s disappointing run of form, which leaves United at rock-bottom once again following Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement in 2013.

“I still don’t feel like there’s a lot of pressure on Erik ten Hag. He’s had a good year and gained time.

“He’s had some bad injuries, but 9 defeats in 17 matches, it’s not enough. I know United have made redundancies in the past, but I don’t think they can afford to continue to do so.”

Premier League betting sites disagree and are keen on the Dutchman getting the boot in the near future, but a kind upcoming pair of fixtures against Luton and Everton could save his job for the time being.
