An unlucky punter has missed out on more than a £100,000 after Lawrence Shankland’s penalty miss for Hearts against Hibernian in the Edinburgh Derby condemned his four-fold accumulator to defeat.

As is standard after a set of midweek fixtures, punters take to Twitter to share their winning or losing bets but for one unlucky football fan it was a night to forget as he revealed the details behind his losing four-fold in which he missed out on more than £100,000.

To make matters worse, the punter was just one goal away and had Lawrence Shankland put away his penalty for Hearts against Hibernian in the Edinburgh Derby – that exact feat would’ve been achieved.

The bet was a four-fold correct score selection with betting site bet365, in which Livingston 0-0 St Johnstone, Chelsea 2-1 Crystal Palace and Everton 1-3 Manchester City were all correctly predicted.

Incorrectly though, he backed Hearts to beat Hibernian 2-0, which ended up finishing 1-0 thanks to an injury-time winner from Shankland, a selection that ultimately saw him miss out on a total of £102,600 from just a £10 stake.

Andrew, clearly distressed by the result, took to Twitter to share the bet slip with fellow football fans, taking aim at Scottish Premiership club Hearts in his caption by vying to ‘never forgive’ them.

Shankland’s penalty miss came early in the first half and despite sending Hibs goalkeeper Zander Clarke the wrong way, the Scotland international’s effort rattled off the post and went out for a goal kick.

As if it couldn’t get any worse for the unlucky punter, prior to that spot-kick Shankland boasted a 100% penalty conversion record for Hearts – scoring 15 of his previous 15 for the club.
