Dwight Yorke has stated in a recent interview that details from a conversation with Cristiano Ronaldo about Manchester United would cost £5 million to keep quiet.

Before Erik ten Hag was appointed as Manchester United manager, Old Trafford legend Dwight Yorke completed his coaching badges at the club and got the opportunity to speak to Cristiano Ronaldo.

Yorke claims that he received so much information from his conversation with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner that Manchester United would pay up to £5 million to keep those details from reaching the public.

“In the conversation I had with him, I got so much information that if I were to reveal some of the things that he told me, I think United would have probably paid me £5million to keep quiet.”

Cristiano Ronaldo is enduring a turbulent second spell at the Red Devils, falling out of favour with Erik ten Hag and losing his spot in the starting lineup to Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

With the World Cup on the horizon, Ronaldo and his fellow international teammates at Portugal are 16/1 in football betting to lift the trophy for the first time in the country’s history.

The 37-year-old has left Old Trafford twice this season before the full-time whistle after being substituted at half-time in a preseason friendly against Rayo Vallecano and an unused substitute in last week’s 2-0 win against Spurs.

“With the record he has against Spurs, he will have been disappointed that he wasn’t playing,” Yorke told Lord Ping. “When I spoke with him six months ago, I spent 30 minutes with him after training. I saw a guy that was passionate and wanted to remain at the club. Then, over the summer, the whole thing escalated.”

Ronaldo’s behaviour is likely to be connected to an unsuccessful transfer request in July, wishing to join a Champions League side and extend his all-time goalscoring record in the competition.

The Portuguese international is just 11 goals clear of arch-rival and PSG forward Lionel Messi, who bagged two goals and two assists in last night’s 7-2 demolishing of Maccabi Haifa.
